Area of Expertise: Dr. Otegui has extensive knowledge of Medical Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, and Women's Studies.

Current Research Project: Otegui's current research project involves health and disease issues in relation to ethnic background.

Project Title: Comparative Ethnic Health Problems in Spain, Latin America, and the US

Academic Background: Dr. Otegui received her BA from the Complutense University of Madrid and her PhD in Sociology in 1983. In Spain, she served as Dean of Political Science and Sociology Faculty (U.C.M.) between 1994-2002. She has been a professor of Social Anthropology since 1981. Dr. Otegui has been invited to visit many foreign universities in Mexico, Argentina, and Italy among others.
