Music, Land, and Women’s Rights: Citizens Making Change in Brazil and the United States
Curriculum Training Workshop for Teachers (Middle and High School Level)
When: Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 8:30-4:00 p.m.
Where: Weaver Center, IOA, UCSD
This innovative workshop will present a curriculum relating Brazilian social movements and activists to issues of citizenship and activism in the U.S. It challenges students to grapple with pressing global issues while encouraging them to become active citizens at home.
Techniques will involve debates, discussions, role playing, and multimedia projects to engage students with Brazilian social movements and draw parallels to issues and organizations in students’ own schools and communities.
