Outreach Event: Workshop for Teachers
The Center for Iberian and Latin American Studies at the University
of California, San Diego invites you
to this special presentation.

José-Luis Orozco's workshop demonstrates how music and song can be used to proote oral language development. He will sing traditional Latin American music and discuss its historical component (i.e., corridos and other Latina American music). The goal of this workshop is to introduce educators to Latin American oral traditions and teach them how to incorporate music into their curriculum.

About the Presenters
José-Luis Orozco is an author and recording artist whose work draws upon the rich heritage of the Spanish-speaking world. Through his music, José-Luis Orozco has sought to expose a wider audience to Spanish langage childhood traditions and promote Latin American culture.
Heidi Feldman is a Lecturer in the Department of Communication. Her research interests include music and social movements in Latin America.

Driving Directions
Take 5 North or South to Genesee Ave. exit.
Go west on Genesse (towards the ocean).
Turn left on North Torrey Pines Rd.
Turn left at Pangea Drive. There is a parking garage on the left side.
Park there.
Walk straight up the road (Pangea) past first stop sign.
Take your next left (a small road/fire lane). Walk to the end.
On your right you will see the Institute of the Americas Complex (Spanish
tile buildings with a water fountain).
Check-in at the Weaver Center.
The Institute of the Americas is near RIMAC & IR/PS. Parking is free.
