CILAS Publications

Since 1992, CILAS has coordinated a variety of publishing projects, including a book series published through Sussex Academic Press, the Journal of Latin American & Caribbean Ethnic Studies, working papers (hosted by eScholarship) by visiting professors, scholars, and graduate students researching Latin America, as well the CILAS Newsletter.

The following is a list of publications supported by the Center for Iberian & Latin American Studies:

Sussex Academic Press

Sussex Academic Press publishes widely in the field of Latin American Studies, the titles of which are detailed below. Particular attention is paid to literary and human issues, and books that contribute to innovation and debate are encouraged.

In addition, the Library of Study series, organized in cooperation with CILAS, provides a more specific focus on topic such as: Culture and Violence, Natural Resources, Globalization, and New Forms of Citizenship.

Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic Studies Journal (LACES)

Latin American & Caribbean Ethnic Studies Journal (LACES) is a cross-disciplinary venue for quality research on ethnicity, race relations, and indigenous peoples. It is open to case studies, comparative analysis, and theoretical contributions that reflect innovative and critical perspectives, focused on any country or countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, written by authors from anywhere in the world.

The aim of the Journal is to play a constructive role in the consolidation of this new field of studies and in the configuration of its contours as an intellectual enterprise.

CILAS Working Papers (hosted by eScholarship)

The University of California's eScholarship provides a suite of open access, scholarly publishing services and research tools that enable departments, research units, publishing programs, and individual scholars associated with the University of California to have direct control over the creation and dissemination of the full range of their scholarship. CILAS Newsletter

Once a year, CILAS publishes their Newsletter, which highlights the many projects and people affiliated with the center and it also features in-depth articles by UCSD students and faculty on issues of interest.

UCSD Latin American Studies Collections

The Latin American holdings in the Social Sciences & Humanities Library here at UCSD include many works written by scholars at CILAS. The library holdings at UCSD focus primarily on Mexico, Central America, and the Andean region, although there are research level collections for the other countries as well, including topics in the humanities and social science disciplines.Collections on women's studies, ethnic studies, immigration, and elections are especially strong for all countries in the region.

The electronic publication, "Latin American election statistics: a guide to sources" provides in-depth access to the Library's research information. UCSD also has access to extensive collections of Latin American electronic resources, including databases, electronic journals, and full-text news services.
